Day 39 – Minneapolis, MN to Red Wing, MN

Our route began as a 66.3-mile trip to Bay City Campground, Bay City, WI, all on paved roads. But the weather conspired to make some changes. We altered our destination to a hotel in Red Wing due to rain. We departed, again, from 4600 France Ave S and rode the

Minnehaha Creek Trail past

Minnehaha Falls and across the Minnesota River on the Highway 62 bridge. We proceeded southeast through Inver Grove Heights and along the Mississippi River, past the confluence with the St Croix River to Red Wing, 65.2 miles in all. John drove the truck and found us our hotel, while Rolf, Mark, & Greg rode on their bikes.

In spite of the rain, the biking was enjoyable and the views, through the clouds, were beautiful.

The bikers were cold and tired upon reaching Red Wing and glad to have a hot shower to help us get clean & warm.
