Day 31 – Sherman Pass Campground, WA to Omak, WA

This route was all paved, but long – 82.1 miles and ended at a hotel in Omak, WA. Today’s truck driver was Greg and John, Rolf, & Mark biked. It began with the last mile uphill to Sherman Pass and then descended 15 miles in another whirlwind of downhill speed.
Once we hit the bottom, we began to climb again almost immediately heading to
Wauconda Pass at about 4300 ft. Again, another long, slow plod up the mountain. And once again, followed by a breathtaking downhill run of just over 25 miles. The final 25 miles followed the Okanagan River to Omak, WA. The views were outstanding, the weather was perfect, neither too hot or too cold.

The Best Western in Omak was welcome and the shower (first in 2 days) was refreshing. We went out to eat at the “best restaurant in town” (according to the hotel clerk), the Bread Line. All entrees came with the “bread bar” – lots of different breads with plenty of butter and garlic butter to satisfy the hungry bikers.
